Temper Bio is a biotechnology company developing first-in-class biologics targeting neuroinflammatory, demyelinating and neurodegenerative diseases
Temper Bio is developing a novel therapeutic platform based on the neurokine TAFA4 to modulate the immune microenvironment across both peripheral and central nervous systems. Temper’s science is based on pioneering research from the laboratory of Dr Sophie Ugolini at the Center of Immunology Marseille-Luminy (CIML).

Neuroinflammation is a shared upstream driver of neuronal damage and degeneration across major central nervous system disorders, including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as peripheral neuropathies such as CIDP, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and diabetic neuropathy.

Neurological conditions are the leading cause of poor health and disability worldwide, affecting more than 40% of the global population (over 3 billion people) and accounting for more than 11 million deaths each year.
The total health burden associated with neurological diseases has increased by 18% since 1990, with further growth expected as populations age. The economic impact is already substantial: global dementia-related costs reached $1.3 trillion in 2021 and are projected to rise to $2 trillion by 2030.

Most current treatments for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases act by broadly suppressing immune activity and reducing inflammation. In conditions such as CIDP and multiple sclerosis, disease‑modifying therapies lower relapse rates but do not repair established myelin or axonal damage, leaving many patients with accumulating neurological deficits. In Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and ALS, available therapies are largely symptomatic and do not effectively halt chronic neuroinflammation or progressive neuronal loss. Across peripheral and central nervous system conditions, there remains a major unmet need for targeted neuro‑immune therapies that not only resolve harmful inflammation but also promote durable structural repair and functional recovery.
